A Full Circle Moment at St Hilda’s: Fireply X® Showcased in an Inspiring Educational Space

At Matilda Veneer, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing our products become part of exceptional architectural projects. Recently, we had the privilege of supplying and manufacturing Fireply X® for the Granowski Building at St Hilda’s School on the Gold Coast, and the experience carried a special significance for our team.

For Craig Graham, our General Manager – Plywood & Panels, the project represented a genuine full-circle moment. Before joining the team at Matilda, Craig worked as a high school teacher at St Hilda’s. Returning to the school years later, this time as part of a project delivery team, was both personally meaningful and professionally rewarding.

During a recent visit to the completed development, Craig had the opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues and experience first-hand the transformation of the space. The finished project showcases contemporary educational design at its best, blending functionality, fire safety and architectural excellence to create a natural, unique and beautiful environment that will inspire students and staff for years to come.

As a key component of the project, Fireply X® was selected for its proven fire performance and high-quality finish. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern educational buildings, Fireply X® provides architects, builders and designers with a solution that delivers both compliance and aesthetic appeal.

Seeing Fireply X® incorporated into such a thoughtfully designed educational facility reinforces our commitment to supplying products that contribute to outstanding built environments. Projects like this demonstrate how the right materials can help bring ambitious architectural visions to life while meeting the practical requirements of education spaces.

We would like to thank everyone involved in delivering this remarkable project. For the Matilda Veneer team, and especially for Craig, it was a proud moment to see Fireply X® playing a role in the next chapter of a school that has been an important part of his own journey.

At Matilda Veneer, we look forward to continuing to support projects that combine innovation, performance and architectural excellence across Australia.
