It’s no secret that there has been an unprecedented increase in the cost of supply of imported timber, and timber veneer has not been exempt from this. American White Oak, which historically has always represented excellent value-for-money, has been one of the best (or worst) examples of this, experiencing a perfect storm of extreme demand, increases in the cost of raw material and shipping, together with and a falling Australian Dollar.
While there is no evidence of a trend away from the ever-popular American Oak, it does open the door for a number of other imported species which can now offer similar tones and bang for your buck. Keep an eye out for our blog on this topic in the coming weeks.
