Ironbark, grey (Quarter)

Grey ironbark (quarter) - Timber Veneer & Plywood Species

A well-regarded species for its high quality and extreme density (1120kg/m3). Indigenous Australians continue to use it to make spear throwers and also boil its bark for treating sores. As with other ironbarks, the bark is hard and coarse with deep ridges. The timber itself ranges from reddish to dark brown and is typically tight and straight with minimal figure. With its obvious suitability in applications where strength and durability are required, its veneer is also popular for decorative purposes.
